I am a big fan of services like Yelp and Angie’s List where you can read reviews of businesses before you “buy”. I recently heard of a company called MiNeeds that offers a similar service, but with a twist. MiNeeds hosts a competitive bidding system which helps customers find affordable services from contractors to dog walkers and more. You post your specific needs to local professionals who then bid on the jobs.
I remember when we remodeled our house about eight years ago and how we were sweating trying to decide on a contractor. We had heard so many horror stories of contractors never finishing a job or final costs totaling two – three times the quoted price.
Luckily, the contractor who did our remodel finished on time and on budget – but I would have felt a lot more relaxed before and during the remodel had I been able to take advantage of this type of service – being able to so easily choose a contractor by competitive price and also to be able to evaluate their previous service based on reviews.
