I have been really frustrated with the texture of my hair lately. No matter how much I condition it, it feels and appears dry and unhealthy. Yesterday, I decided to give it a "hot oil treatment".

I poured a little extra virgin olive oil into a coffee cup and put it in the microwave for about 15 seconds. I then used my fingers to apply it to my hair. Next, I used a wide tooth comb to ensure the oil was evenly distributed throughout my hair.

I let it sit on my hair for about 20 minutes while I worked on the computer. I smelled like an Italian kitchen, but luckily, Paul is Italian so there were not complaints. Finally, I grabbed my blowdryer and used it on my hair for 2 - 3 minutes to get the olive oil to really set in my hair.

Once I jumped in the shower I shampooed twice to get all of the olive oil out. I didn't have to use conditioner.

I am amazed at the difference in the texture of my hair. It is softer and healthier. It even looks darker than it did before.

My one warning is to be very careful in the shower when you are rinsing your hair. The olive oil makes the shower floor very slippery. As soon as you get out, scrub it with a little cleanser to remove the remaining oil from the shower floor. Your spouse or roommate will thank you.
