As I mentioned before, I took Thursday and Friday off to get a jump start on the backyard landscape project.
The day began with Dante and I dropping Paul off at the airport. He flew out to a swordfighting convention that he goes to every year in Detroit. After dropping Paul off, Dante and I drove to Fogarty Winery to purchase half wine barrels for the garden. Fogarty is located about 20 miles from our house in the Santa Cruz Mountains. It's a windy road, but well worth the trip for the view of the San Francisco Bay alone. The winery itself is beautifully landscaped and made me that much more excited to get to work on our own backyard.
Ultimately, I would like to purchase 10 or 15 barrels for my vegetable garden. I prefer gardening in pots and I think the barrels will allow me to plant more in addition to being ornamental. The reason I chose Fogarty Winery to purchase the barrels is because they are cheap at $20 each and the winery is close to home.
We managed to get two barrels in the Nissan. Although it would have been nice to purchase more, I like the idea of adding to the backyard a little at a time.
After a quick stroll around the winery, we headed home for a bite to eat and then headed to Fearless Fitness. With Paul out, I had to teach his kid's class until Coach Damon was able to get there to teach the other classes.
It wasn't the most productive day, but it was a start!
