Today, I want to tell you about my wonderful Sunday. In preparing for the launch party, my home was terribly neglected. I got up a few hours earlier than Paul and Dante and spent the time cleaning the house. I actually enjoy housework. When I finally find the time to do it after a few days (or weeks) of neglect, I really enjoy it.
Around 10:30 am, we jumped in the car and headed north about 100 miles to Healdsburg, CA. Paul's family owns a home there on the Russian River. Paul spent most of his childhood summers at "The River" and we hope Dante will enjoy spending summer days with us there as well.
After owning the house on The River for the last 30 years, Paul's dad and stepmom decided to remodel it last summer. Sunday was the first opportunity Paul and I had to see the remodel. It is breathtaking. They poured their hearts into the home. It is a bright, airy space now, making it even more enticing to spend available weekends there.
We spent most of Sunday on the deck waving at people kayaking down the river. We took Dante down to the river and Paul showed him how to throw rocks into the water. About 30 minutes and 300 rocks later, we told Dante it was time to go back up to the house. He told us "No. River". Meaning, he wasn't about to go back in the house and wanted to stay exactly where he was. Our hope that Dante would enjoy The River was pretty much confirmed at that moment.
Later in the evening we had a delicious chicken and pasta dinner with Paul's family before getting back in the car and heading home. Since our schedule has been so hectic this last month, we were both a little reluctant to leave the house on Sunday. After spending just 30 minutes at The River house, we knew we made the right decision to go.
