Is Beyonce Frugal?

Last week I posted an article in the Budget Savvy World Report about Beyonce's announcement that she is frugal (Beyonce: I am Very Frugal ). I have a feeling she is going to catch a lot of flack for making that statement based on the perception of her lifestyle.

Webster's definition of frugal is: characterized by or reflecting economy in the use of resources. The fact is that Beyonce's resources are far more extensive than ours. Compared to most people in her industry, she might just be frugal and if so, more power to her!

One of my favorite books is The Millionaire Next Door. It reveals the surprising facts about America's wealthy and that based on their lifestyle, you may live next door to them and not realize they are millionaires. They drive used cars. Live in modest neighborhoods in modest homes. Even though they could spend as they please, they live below their means.

If her statement is true, that is exactly what Beyonce is doing. She is living below her means. Although, unlike the millionaires described in the book, if Beyonce and Jay Z were living next to you, you'd probably figure out pretty quick that they are wicked rich!
