Can You Get Out of Costco This Cheap?
Tuesday, 17 February 2009
My friend Janna, Dante and I hit Costco last night. Paul and I still have a surplus of food from our last trip in early January so I didn't need to pick up meat or any other big ticket items.

There were just five items on my list and I managed to walk out of the store paying $21.25. That is a new record for the Tosetti Family! What did I buy?

2 Gallons of milk for $3.89 or $1.95 each.
2 loaves of our favorite whole wheat bread for $5.39 or $2.70 each.
3 lbs of Broccoli for $3.99 or $1.33 per pound.
4 lbs of butter for $5.49 or $1.37 per pound
2 dozen eggs for $2.49 or $1.25 per dozen.

The milk will only last for a little over a week, but that's ok.

The bread will last almost a month. We will keep one loaf in the freezer until the first loaf is consumed.

The broccoli will last close to a month in a Debbie Meyer Green Bag. I'll write more about Debbie Meyer Green Bags in another post.

The butter will last at least a month, more if I'm not doing a lot of baking.

The eggs will last a month. Whatever eggs that are leftover before our next Costco trip will be boiled and consumed as a post workout food or if there is a lot, I'll make egg salad for Paul and Dante.

If you have any great Costco, Sam's Club or Smart and Final shopping strategies, I'd love to hear them. Please email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
