While contemplating gift ideas, I remembered that when I worked for Waldenbooks, I would have loved for someone to give me books for my birthday. Yet, I never received a single book while I worked there. I thought that Mark might be in the same predicament. So, on Sunday I whipped up a batch of my new favorite gift giving recipe - dark and semisweet chocolate brownie cups. On Monday I sent them via USPS with a note stating that I thought a chef might enjoy someone else baking for him. He received the brownie cupcakes on Tuesday and I got a very happy email from him saying that YES, as a chef, he loved the idea of someone baking for him.
The moral of the story is, if you know a cobbler, maybe he would like shoes for his birthday.
