{mosimage}Paul and I had to put our dog Murphy to sleep last week. I won’t go into how heart wrenching it was. As much as we miss her we are trying to look on the bright side that she was a part of our family for 13 wonderful years. As we struggle with our loss, our English Bulldog Mushu is really having a tough time. She misses her friend and lifelong companion. As we give her as much attention as possible, we are in the process of looking for a new dog – not an easy task. Specifically, we are looking for an English Mastiff or an English Mastiff mix. I am not about to shell out $1,000 - $2,500 for a pet! Also, I have a very difficult time buying from a breeder when there are so many animals out there that need a loving home. I have put in applications with several Mastiff rescue services. I’d like to get a dog that is 6 months or younger so that Mushu can be the alpha. However, if the right adult dog comes along – that gets along with Mushu, we will happily welcome them into our home. I will keep you posted. I included a picture of Mushu for you. Doesn't she look like she needs a new friend?

Being a hardcore coffee drinker, I have dabbled in tea over the course of the last few years. I seem to like the “idea” of tea more than actually consuming it. No matter how I brewed a cup, it always tasted like the bag. A few years ago I had the opportunity to attend a high tea and that changed everything. It was the first time I tasted loose-leaf tea – and I was right! All those previous cups HAD tasted like the bag. Ever since then I kept my eye out for a cast iron tea pot. I didn’t want to settle on one. I wanted to fall in love with one. My patience paid off. I found a beautiful teapot at Teavana (www.teavana.com). I spent almost an hour picking out cups and trivets to go with my new teapot as well as tasting all different types of loose leaf tea to take home and brew. It was a wonderful hour and the final bill - $160 (including the teapot, a trivet, two cups and two coasters) for an item that I will have forever and be able to pass down. Now, I enjoy the ritual of making tea for myself and drinking it out of my beautiful cups. However, I still reach for my beloved cup of coffee first thing every morning. |
