Ok, so it wasn't an entirely work free staycation, but we did our best. Here is my scorecard for the first few days.
After Saturday's Kung Fu tournament, we spent the rest of the day relaxing and watching Dante play in his pirate pool. Although Kung Fu is part of our business at Fearless Fitness, it was a fun event, so I'd say it felt pretty vacation-ey.
On Sunday, we had some serious housework to do. After moving Fearless to its new location and losing so much storage space, all the items that were stored at the old school were now in our living room and my office. Paul and I spent most of Sunday finding homes for everything. We managed to get 95% of it taken care of so I was finally able to relax. Unfortunately, I am one of those types that can't relax when the house is cluttered. For me, it was worth putting the work in to get everything put away, but I can't say it felt like a vacation day.
On Monday, I briefly worked on Budget Savvy and then Paul, Dante and I ran errands for most of the day. That evening, we headed to Fearless Fitness where I taught one class (we offered one FFIT class a day for all of our students so they still had an opportunity to workout if they wanted). After that, Paul worked with Scott, one of our students who has his first amateur fight coming up on July 11th. Ok, that day didn't feel very vacation-ey either, but we weren't in our normal routine, so that was nice.
On Tuesday, Paul went skating and Dante and I hung out and played in the backyard for most of the day. I worked briefly on Budget Savvy and taught again that evening. Paul also worked with Scott again. The day felt a little more vacation-ey. It's a good thing we like our jobs so much or it would have sucked.
On Wednesday, we met Paul's dad at the San Francisco Zoo and had a wonderful time. It had been a year since our last visit and Dante really enjoyed seeing all of the animals. Although we taught that night and I worked briefly on Budget Savvy, Wednesday felt a lot more like a vacation.
Our staycation stopped on Wednesday as Thursday, we packed up and headed for wine country. We were a lot more successful at our actual vacation. I'll tell you more about that in my next entry.
