Home Living Room My Christmas Account
My Christmas Account
Wednesday, 17 December 2008
In January, I opened an ING Savings account earmarked for Christmas. Each month, $50 was automatically transferred to that account. The Monday before Thanksgiving, I transferred the $550, plus $9 interest, to my ING Checking Account, an account I don't normally use. I then whipped out my ING debit card for all of my Christmas purchases, including groceries for my holiday baking.

Having the money already saved along with a separate debit card for the purchases gave me a freedom that I have never experienced when holiday shopping. I didn't realize how much second guessing I did before. I would often have to go back to the same stores several times because I was hesitant to actually make purchases. This year, if I found what I wanted to purchase, I bought it. I managed to wrap up the majority of my Christmas shopping before December 1st. Consequently, I have had plenty of time to concentrate on enjoying the holiday season with my family. This is another holiday tradition that I will set in stone!
