Frédéric Fekkai is one of the most celebrated names in beauty and hairstyling. His clientele include Liv Tyler, Kim Basinger, Julia Ormond, and Holly Hunter to name a few. He is also the author of one of my favorite books, Frederic Fekkai: A Year of Style. I am attracted to his philosophy of simplicity in beauty; that less is more. I also appreciate his dedication to joie de vivre.

When I found out that he had developed a salon quality, at-home hair color, I called his public relations contact to get my hands on a box to review.

Unlike most at-home hair dyes that are applied with a squeeze bottle, Fekkai Salon Colors uses a bowl and brush system. It helps give a more even application of the dye. I felt that I had better control of where the color was going.

The smell of the product was much more pleasant than the usual chemical-smell you get with other products that I have used in the past. It made the process of dying my hair that much more enjoyable.

Once I dyed my hair and used the Post-Conditioner 3-Minute Mask I was astonished at how healthy my hair felt. It was softer and stronger than I ever remember. The shine was amazing.

In addition, the color lasted at least 8 weeks longer than any other color treatment I have tried including Feria, Preference, Nice and Easy and the $120 color treatment I had in July.

Another bonus is the amount of Post-Conditioner 3-Minute Mask that came with the product. There was enough for me to continue to use it every 3-4 days for the next six weeks. It was like getting two products for the price of one.

Fekkai Salon Color far exceeded my expectations. For those who already use at-home color, the $30 price tag may seem daunting. I believe that it is worth it.
